Shift Leader / Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

  • Floor Management: Run the shift (opening, midday, or closing) including pre-shift huddle, deployment, and closing checklist; position the team based on volume, skill, and prep priorities; step in at any station when needed; manage the rush by anticipating volume and redeploying in the moment.

  • People & Coaching: Coach team members in the moment on speed, accuracy, hospitality, and recipe spec; document performance issues and recognize standout performance; handle break scheduling and timekeeping; train new hires on stations as assigned.

  • Cash & Operations: Open and close registers; count drawers; prepare bank deposits; reconcile end-of-day reports and document discrepancies; manage par levels during shift; place mid-shift orders when needed; handle customer escalations and resolve on the spot when possible.

  • Quality & Standards: Walk the line every hour to check temps, dates, holding, and station cleanliness; audit drinks, sandwiches, and bagel/pastry case presentation against spec; enforce uniform, hygiene, and food safety standards.

  • Reporting: Submit shift logs, incident reports, and a daily wrap to the GM/AM; flag equipment issues, safety concerns, and inventory gaps proactively.

Qualifications

  • 18+ years old

  • 1+ year prior QSR, café, deli, or restaurant experience, including at least 6 months in a senior crew or lead role

  • ServSafe Manager certification (or willing to obtain within 90 days)

  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills

  • Comfortable with cash handling, basic POS reporting, and scheduling tools

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work open-to-close, weekends, and holidays

  • Able to stand for 8+ hours, lift up to 50 lbs

  • Preferred: Cross-trained on multiple stations (bar, line, assembly, register)

  • Preferred: Prior experience opening or closing a café, deli, or restaurant solo

  • Preferred: Familiarity with scheduling software (7shifts, Homebase, When I Work, Toast)

  • Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
